In this lesson, students will examine the history of Aboriginal reserves and missions in Australia, including the government policies that created them and the conditions Indigenous people experienced. They will explore how the assimilation policy affected First Nations culture and identity, and consider why the effects of this system continue to be felt in Australian society today. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
