Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the major battles fought on the Western Front during 1917 and explore how new technologies and tactics began to shift the direction of World War One. They will investigate the role of tanks and artillery tactics in Allied operations, and consider how the Russian Revolution altered the wider course of the war. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
