Trench Warfare in World War One Lesson

Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the physical layout and daily conditions of World War One trenches, and explore how both the environment and the constant threat of attack affected the health and morale of soldiers on the Western Front. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
