John Calvin Lesson

Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the life and theological ideas of John Calvin, exploring how his work in Geneva and his writings on predestination, Scripture, and church administration transformed the course of the Protestant Reformation. They will also investigate the major controversies surrounding Calvin, including his role in the execution of Michael Servetus and his strict moral discipline in Geneva, developing an informed understanding of how his influence spread across Europe and into the modern world. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
