In this lesson, students will learn how ancient Egyptians understood their many gods, the roles of major deities, and the importance of temples and priests in everyday religious life. They will also examine Egyptian beliefs about death and judgement, including mummification, the weighing of the heart, and how ideas about the afterlife influenced burial customs and tomb decoration. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
