In this lesson, students will examine the causes and consequences of the Great Depression, with a focus on how the 1929 stock market crash triggered a chain of economic failures across the United States. They will also explore the government responses to the crisis, including Roosevelt's New Deal, and assess why it ultimately took the outbreak of World War Two to bring the depression to an end. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
