Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the key military decisions and logistical challenges that determined the outcome of the Kokoda Campaign in 1942. They will explore how the Australian militia's fighting retreat, combined with the Japanese army's critical supply failures, ultimately prevented a Japanese advance on Port Moresby and halted Japanese expansion in the Pacific. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
