In this lesson, students will examine the causes and stages of the Russian Revolution of 1917, tracing the collapse of Tsarist rule through the February Revolution to the Bolshevik seizure of power in October. They will explore how the pressures of World War One accelerated political change in Russia and consider the consequences of Bolshevik rule for the Russian people in the years that followed. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
