Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the experiences of Australians on the home front during World War One, including how the community responded to recruitment and the conscription debate. They will explore how the war transformed the roles of women in Australian society and assess why the conscription referendums failed to win public support. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
