The Sea Battles of WWI Lesson

Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the major naval developments of World War One, from the pre-war arms race between Britain and Germany to the Battle of Jutland and the campaign of unrestricted submarine warfare. They will explore how advances in submarine warfare and the convoy system changed the course of the conflict and influenced the conduct of future wars. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
