In this lesson, students will examine the rapid military expansion of the Mongol Empire from the unification of the Mongol tribes under Genghis Khan in 1206 to the eventual collapse of Mongol rule across Asia and Eastern Europe. They will also explore how changes in leadership, succession, and culture contributed to the decline of one of history's most powerful empires. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, including reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
