In this lesson, students will examine how the Inca Empire grew from a small Andean tribe into one of the largest pre-Columbian empires in the Americas, tracing key rulers and their military campaigns from the early 1200s through to 1527. They will also explore how the Incas used tools such as the Quechua language and the mita labour system to manage and consolidate their expanding territories. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
