Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the military culture of the Aztec Empire, exploring how warfare was tied to religious belief, social advancement, and political control. They will also investigate the unique practice of the Flower Wars and consider what these staged conflicts reveal about the relationship between religion and power in Aztec society. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, including reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
