In this lesson, students will explore how Tutankhamun became the most recognised Egyptian pharaoh despite his brief and unremarkable reign, examining the religious revolution under his father Akhenaten and the subsequent attempts to erase their memory from history. Students will understand how a 20th-century archaeological discovery transformed an obscure boy king into a global icon, whilst also investigating the enduring mystery surrounding his unexpected death at a young age. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
