Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn about the life, teachings, and enduring legacy of Confucius, exploring how his philosophy of harmony, virtue, and respect has shaped East Asian societies for over two millennia. They will also delve into the evolution of Confucian thought, from its origins in the Zhou Dynasty to its development into Neo-Confucianism and its spread across East Asia, examining its impact on governance, education, and societal norms. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
