Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine how pop culture has developed over the course of the 20th century and explore its influence on society and global culture. They will investigate the role of mass media in spreading cultural trends, assess the social impact of key developments such as television and social media, and consider the criticisms that have been raised about the commercialisation and global reach of Western pop culture. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through reading, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
