Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the turning points of the Pacific War in 1942, focusing on the naval battles at the Coral Sea and Midway before moving to Guadalcanal. They will explore how American intelligence advantages and industrial capacity combined to stop Japanese expansion and shift the momentum of the war. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities.
