The North African Campaign in WWII Lesson

Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the North African campaign of World War Two, from Italy's initial invasion of Egypt in 1940 through to the Allied victory in Tunisia in 1943. They will explore the importance of the Suez Canal, the role of Rommel's Afrika Korps, and how the Second Battle of El Alamein turned the tide against the Axis forces in the region. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
