In this lesson, students will examine how the Marshall Plan came about and explore how the United States used economic aid to assist European reconstruction after the Second World War. They will investigate the conditions placed on that aid, the extent to which the plan achieved its goals of containing communism and boosting European economies, and the role it played in encouraging cooperation among European nations. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
