Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will explore the historical events surrounding the arrival of the First Fleet in Australia in 1788, delving into the British practice of transporting convicts as a solution to overcrowding in prisons and the subsequent establishment of a penal colony.  Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
