Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will gain an understanding of the complex factors that led to the American Revolution, from early European colonization and its impact on Native Americans to the various acts and taxes imposed by the British Parliament. They will also explore key events like the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, and the First Continental Congress, which collectively fueled the colonies' desire for independence and set the stage for armed conflict. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
