Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn about the unique social structure and military-focused lifestyle of ancient Spartan society, including the agoge training system for boys and the roles of women. They will also explore key historical events and battles that shaped Sparta's rise to power and eventual decline. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
