Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine why Christians were persecuted in the Roman Empire between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD. They will learn how both imperial policies and local attitudes shaped the treatment of Christians and how Christian communities responded through martyrdom and apologetics. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
