Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine how the ancient Egyptian army was organised and used in battle, from the levy-based forces of the Old Kingdom to the professional armies of the New Kingdom. They will explore how Egypt’s military methods connected to questions of supply and imperial control, from Nubia to the Levant. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
