Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn why the Second, Third, and Fourth Crusades failed by examining poor leadership decisions, supply problems, internal disputes, and key military defeats. They will also learn how figures such as Zengi and Saladin, along with events like the sack of Constantinople, weakened Christian unity and kept Jerusalem under Muslim control. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, research, and watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
