In this lesson, students will examine the life and career of Napoleon Bonaparte, tracing how he rose from humble origins in Corsica to become Emperor of the French through a combination of military brilliance and political manoeuvring. They will also explore the major events that brought about his downfall, from the catastrophic Russian campaign of 1812 through to his final defeat at Waterloo in 1815 and his subsequent exile on Saint Helena. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
