In this lesson, students will examine the strengths and weaknesses of the six major European powers in the years leading up to World War One. They will explore how each nation's military capacity and internal pressures contributed to the volatile international situation that preceded the outbreak of war in 1914. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
