Indigenous Resistance to Colonisation Lesson

In this lesson, students will examine the resistance of First Nations warriors against European colonisation in Australia, focusing on the lives of Pemulwuy, Musquito, Windradyne, Yagan, and Jandamarra. They will explore how guerilla warfare, hit-and-run tactics, and deep knowledge of the land allowed these leaders to mount sustained opposition to colonial expansion across New South Wales, Tasmania, and Western Australia. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
