In this lesson, students will examine the factors that led to the fall of the Inca Empire, including the impact of Spanish military advantages, the spread of disease, and the internal divisions that weakened Inca resistance. They will explore the key events of the conquest, from Pizarro's arrival in Peru in 1532 to the capture of Cusco in 1533, and consider how the actions of both the Spanish and the Incas determined the outcome of this significant historical encounter. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
