In this lesson, students will explore the reign of Edward VI and examine how his government's aggressive push for Protestant reform transformed religious worship in England through the introduction of the Book of Common Prayer and the Acts of Uniformity. They will also investigate the power struggles within the Council of Regency, the military campaigns against Scotland, and the succession crisis that followed Edward's early death, considering how these events influenced the direction of the English Reformation. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
