Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine how the Aboriginal Tent Embassy came to be and explore the events that drove its creation in 1972. They will investigate the responses of successive Australian governments to Indigenous land rights campaigns and consider why the embassy continued to attract national and international attention for decades after its founding. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
