In this lesson, students will examine the political and economic conditions that allowed the Nazi Party to rise from a fringe movement to the dominant force in German politics between 1919 and 1933. They will explore how the failures of the Weimar Republic, the devastating impact of hyperinflation and the Great Depression, and the calculated political manoeuvring of Hitler and his associates combined to produce one of the most significant political transformations of the twentieth century. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
