In this lesson, students will examine how the League of Nations was established after World War I and explore why its reliance on economic sanctions, without any military power, left it unable to stop major conflicts in the 1930s. They will assess the successes and failures of the League and consider how its collapse led directly to the creation of the United Nations. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
