In this lesson, students will examine the development and operation of the Nazi concentration camp system, from its introduction in 1933 through to the liberation of the camps by Allied forces in 1945. They will explore the systematic escalation of Nazi persecution, from forced detention to the industrialised mass murder of the Holocaust, and consider how the Nuremberg Trials attempted to establish accountability for these crimes. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
