Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will explore the strategic importance and execution of the Allied Invasion of Sicily in 1943 and the Italian Campaign during World War II. They will learn about Operation Mincemeat, the Battle of Monte Cassino, the fall of Mussolini’s regime, and Italy's armistice with the Allies. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities.
