Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the circumstances that led to the 1967 Australian referendum and explore how Indigenous Australians along with activist organisations campaigned for constitutional change over several decades. They will investigate the legal barriers and political decisions that determined the pace of reform in Australia. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
