In this lesson, students will explore the personal and political consequences of Henry VIII's six marriages, examining how each union was driven by the king's desire for a male heir, political alliances, or personal attraction. They will analyse the ways in which these marriages triggered significant religious and political upheaval in England, including the break with the Catholic Church and the rise of the English Reformation, while considering the tragic fates of the women involved. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, including reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
